HSFS is a climate service intended to assist reservoir managers plan future regulation strategies
HSFS provides information about the onset of the spring flood and the flood volume each month staring in January through to May.

HSFS is a climate service aimed, primarily, at hydropower operators who need to manage storage reservoirs in catchments dominated by snow processes. As part of EUPORIAS, we are working closely with Energiforsk and the regulation authority (Vattenregleringsföretagen) to develop a working prototype (for example email or website) to provide seasonal spring flood forecasts (1-5 months ahead) in support of hydropower reservoir regulation planning. We believe that better information regarding the onset and volume of the spring flood will support operators in making better decisions on how to manage storage reservoir levels to maximise production potential.
