Because of the range of topics presented and discussed and the breadth of the audience, the RSS Conference is the only one in the UK where all statisticians and users of data gather together. So it’s the best forum to share information, network and learn from one another.
Now in its 24th year, the conference has gained prestige for its focus on current statistical issues, how it fosters the exchange of ideas and information and the quality of its speakers. Plenary speakers in 2016 will include Christl Donnelly (Imperial College London), Anne Glover (former Chief Scientific Adviser, European Commission) and Xiao-Li Meng (Harvard University).
This annual conference regularly attracts over 450 participants from all over the world, ranging from senior academic statisticians through to new graduates and postgraduate students, with strong representation from the public sector as well as statisticians and data scientists working in industry or as independent consultants. There is also a growing group of people who have an interest in statistics but who don’t work in the field.
The conference is popular to such a diverse audience because it offers a broad and varied programme of talks and workshops not found in any other UK based statistical conference.
